WILLIAM WALLACE SWORD OF FREEDOM

This exact replica of the William Wallace sword of freedom is made in Britain by Macallen Armourers. This famous two-handed sword was used by William Wallace during his stunning victory over the English at the battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297.

The patriot’s sword of freedom was held in Dunbarton Castle, under English control, for six hundred years.  On the 17th November 1888 it was formally transferred back to the Scottish people during a ceremony that took place in Falkirk castle. This historic sword is currently displayed in the National Wallace Monument, Stirling, Scotland.

In a poet’s word (Sir Walter Scott), the William Wallace freedom sword is: -

"Fit for archangel to wield, yet light in his terrible hand"

The Macallen Armourers replica was patterned using the original William Wallace sword and comes complete with a certificate of authenticity signed by Macallen Armourers, Master Armourers to the Family Bruce. Our sword is a true reproduction of the great sword actually used by William Wallace, unlike the sword used by Mel Gibson in the film Braveheart.
